IRIS is a composer and singer who lived many years in Paris, France, before going back to her roots in South Bretagne, in order to compose her first album. There, she creates songs in front of the Ocean. As a soprano with a crystalline, ethereal voice, she weaves threads between different realities which are, for her, palpable. She transcribes them into music, into sounds, into images to take us on a journey. “ And to heal ”, she whispers.
Centered on the voice, IRIS' songs are wild, tinged with improvised music and ancestral vocal traditions, yet resolutely anchored in the future. She loves the freedom to compose and sing outside of conventional structures, following in the footsteps of composers and singers such as Björk, Aurora, Caroline Polachek, and Emilie Simon.
IRIS composed her debut album as an ode to self-discovery, to the life force within us, and to the death of her illusions. She celebrates the women who returns from the deep waters of death to dance with the living, who uses her heart as a drum to breathe life into the world. Entering her numinous realm is akin embarking on a journey into uncharted mysteries. She envelops us with her otherworldly songs.
“This song tells the story of a woman who allows herself to be carried away by the currents, drifting far, far away. She plunges into the depths of the ocean, reconnecting with its wild nature and immensity. Through this journey, she undergoes a radical transformation and encounters unconscious forces. Returning as a warrior of light, she is adorned with mysterious powers to confront new battles. When I composed this song, I aimed to capture the sounds of the ocean and evoke the sensation of its rhythmic waves.“
