Lena Morris is a blues-rock independent singer-songwriter-bass player from a French family with Armenian origins. After the release of her 1st EP ‘New Blood’ (2021) the best of Blues English press (Blues In Britain, Powerplay Magazine, Blues Matters…) compared her to Sheryl Crow, Janis Joplin, Alanis Morissette, Stevie Nicks, Chrissie Hynde, Kate Bush and her songwriting was compared to Queen, David Bowie, Deep Purple…Bassplayer Magazine also features her on the cover page and a double page. Lena is currently working on a new album.
Background
Growing up around the world (Brussels, Barcelona, France, Hong Kong) she discovers cultural diversity. From her youngest age she is exposed to rock music: David Bowie, The Beatles, Queen, Supertramp…At 14 years old, fascinated by these bands and more especially by Paul McCartney she buys a bass guitar, learns it herself and 2 months later sings and plays bass at Hong Kong's legendary music bar: The Wanch. She learns the guitar, piano, sings, writes.
Alternately a singer, a singer/bass player, a bass player or back vocalist, Lena collaborates with dozens of musicians, amateurs and professionals. During her High School years she performs publicly more than 70 times.
Hired to sing advertisements in Asia, Lena discovers the recording studios and production. She decides to produce her first single: “Cool Cool Cat”. In 2016, aged 18, Lena moves to Brighton, England, where she obtains her Bachelor in Songwriting (BIMM, University of Sussex) in 2019. In the year 2017, Lena released 3 singles: ‘Break My Heart’ , ‘Dearest Dreamiest Dead’ and ‘Secretly Jacked’.
Lena Morris released her latest Blues-Rock single ‘Never (Is An Awfully Long Time)’ in May 2019. She collaborates with Rich Beahan, incredible Jazz pianist who plays on her singles ‘Dearest Dreamiest Dead’ and ‘Secretly Jacked’. In return, Lena is Rich Beahan’s back vocalist. She features on his album ‘Reasonable People’ (2021).
In 2021 she leaves Brighton for Paris, France, where she meets new musicians and works on a new album for 2023.
