Born in the rural city of Louveira in the State of São Paulo amidst grape vines, lush green plantations and blue skies,multi-instrumentalist and music producer, Luccas Martins brings the freshness and light of the fruit circuit city to his compositions. Luccas had a strong musical influence in his family from birth. His grandfather, known as “Seu Zico Martins” played the trombone for over 50 years in what is now the symphonic band of Louveira. As a teenager, Luccas had his first dab with an acoustic guitar and soon started learning the tambourine, a versatile and fascinating instrument, which opened the doors to the world of percussion where he now leads his life as a professional musician.
Experimentation and originality are Luccas’ trademarks, whether as a percussionist, researching and augmenting his collection with distinctive instruments including the handpan, pandeiro, brazilian seeds, cuíca and the berimbau, a traditional instrument perhaps best known for providing the soundtrack to capoeira, the rhythmic Brazilian martial art.
Luccas Martins is a multifaceted artist celebrated as a percussionist, composer, arranger, and producer.
Luccas’s releases include the EP Luccas Martins Handpan Live in Europe (2022), recorded live across several European countries, and the album Voar Doce Lar (2022), an original soundtrack for a contemporary art exhibition—both showcasing his exceptional talent and creativity. (2016), which gained significant airplay on European radio stations in 2019, ranking among the most-played World Music albums.
