Multi-chart-topper and award-winning gospel recording artist, songwriter, and producer Marcus Jordan is a Houston, TX native who discovered his God-given gift of musicianship at the age of seven when he began playing the keyboard by ear. He honed his craft by playing for various groups and churches throughout Houston. As a noted musician he was afforded the opportunity to work with Beyonce’s sister, recording artist Solange Knowles, while a part of the Music World Entertainment House Band.
In 2017 he accomplished his goal of becoming a police officer after obtaining his associate degree in criminal justice and completing the University of Houston Downtown’s Police Academy. Upon completion he became a Houston-based Police Officer serving students, faculty, and his local community. In 2023 Marcus decided to resign from the force and dedicate his time to ministry and the continued pursuit of his musical career.
In June 2021 Marcus released the Call On The Name album, which debuted at #3 on iTunes Christian/Gospel chart. The album features the chart-topping gospel radio single and title-track “Call On The Name”. Written by Marcus Jordan and produced by Rodrick “Bubba” Dowling the song soared to #1 on Billboard Gospel Airplay chart (42+ weeks in Top 30), #1 on Mediabase Gospel chart (46+ weeks in Top 40), #1 on Billboard’s Gospel Indicator (back-to-back weeks), #17 on Billboard’s Hot Gospel Songs chart, and earned a #32 position on Billboard's 2022 Year-End Gospel Airplay Songs chart. “Call On The Name” made its second consecutive appearance on Billboard’s Year-End Gospel Airplay Songs chart in 2023, securing an impressive spot at #27. In April 2023 Marcus released the upbeat, high-energy gospel-pop track “Dance”, which earned him his second Top 20 record on Billboard’s Gospel chart.
As a multi-talented artist with a growing catalogue of chart-topping hits to his name, Marcus Jordan has garnered enthusiastic anticipation from both fans and industry professionals. On February 3, 2023, Marcus released My Life, a 6-track EP that debuted at #4 on iTunes Christian chart and #53 on the All-Genre chart. The title-track was featured on Apple Music’s Gospel Best New Songs and New In Gospel playlist. In January of 2024 Marcus achieved an impressive milestone of 1 million all-time streams on Apple Music alone. Marcus has notably written all his songs including “I Can”, lauded by internet phenomenon Karlton Humes (best known as Not Karlton Banks). The influencer gave a comedic parody of the song to his 1 million Instagram (@notkarltonbanks) social media followers. Karlton Humes again gave a comedic parody for the song “Finally” (The Wedding Song). Within the first 24 hours the “Finally” parody received over 250k views and 31k likes.
In addition to his appearances at the Essence Festival in New Orleans and the Stellar Gospel Music Awards, Marcus has shared the stage with Jonathan McReynolds, JJ Hairston, Deitrick Haddon, James Fortune, and Maurette Brown Clark. He also received an endorsement from nationally syndicated radio host Darlene McCoy of Radio One, who praised his vocal ability during his 2023 performance at Praise in the Park in Houston, TX.
