JULIEN DASSIN, a dynasty of artists ...
Son of the singer Joe Dassin, grandson of the filmmaker Jules Dassin, Julien is the third generation of this dynasty of artists, the DASSIN!
After debuting as a comedian at the theater, he offered to the public a first album around the songs of Yves Montand on Sony Music ; Three years before, he performed in the biggest cities of Canada and USA for a musical tribute to his father. In 2016, he recorded a new version of the "Champs Elysées" which was included in the album homage Joe Dassin (Double Golden record - Sony Music) surrounded by a famous Choir with which he toured around France and triumph five nights at the Olympia in Paris.
Julien Dassin also decides to surround himself with the best French musicians who form the “Paris Tour Eiffel Orchestra” (among them the drummer of his father Joe Dassin, the pianist and accordionist Charles Trenet, Charles Aznavour ...) and stage a a romantic and dynamic singing tour in which he pays tribute to his father but also to the greatest composers of French chanson!
Then in March 2017, he began a new French tour (still in the company of the famous ensemble) and especially a week sold-out at Salle Pleyel in Paris.
In June 2018, he recorded a duet with Natasha St Pier for a musical and returned to the studio to record an album with "Les Compagnons". Disc released by MCA-Universal. After a week's residence, he performed with this ensemble in the East of France; before returning to the road in 2018 with the Paris-Tour Eiffel Orchestra with which he signed several successes on stage especially at the Automobile Club de France in Paris.
In 2019, Julien goes around the world (Beyrouth Lebanon then Riga Estonia) to present his new show.
In 2020, he prepare a Joe Dassin tribute and enter in studio for the recording of Joe Dassin’s song “Dans les Yeux d’Émilie” for the tribute album “A Toi” released by Sony Music fall 2020. Stopped by the covid, a series of shows are canceled in 2021 then in 2022 when the war begins in Ukraine, the homeland dear to the heart of the Dassin family.
Julien therefore decides to cancel his concerts series in Moscow planned fall 2022 in Russia, until the conflict ends between two countries.
During the Rugby World Cup that France hosted in 2023, title “Dans les Yeux d’Emilie” became an unofficial hit of the competition as it was taken up in all the places where the public gathered, and Julien therefore continued with the promotion of this title.
Then to prepare his new show "100% Joe Dassin" and to begin a series of concerts which took him to Romania, (Bucaresti), Moldova (Kishinev) and Riga (Estonia).
A tour of eastern countries which continued in 2024. Julien Dassin visited several other European countries. After Kazakhstan, Kirgizstan, Julien went to Vilnius for a full book concert in front of 3000 Lithuanians. Then Bulgaria, Romania, Estonia, Latvia…
Before to go to North America in Canada in May 2025, he will continue his European Tour by Poland, Lituania, Bulgaria, Czech Rep and especially Greece, a country very dear to him, as it is like his second homeland. It’s the country that welcomed his grandfather and where he spent his entire childhood alongside him and Melina Mercouri, his step-grandmother, and where he has spent every summer since his early childhood. Then he will go to back to the North Europe, Central Asia and, at last, France in 2026 with, his new show: “Joe Dassin Story”.
Meanhwile, June 5th, he wil published is first book (Editions l'Archipel) : Il était une fois nous deux, Mon père Joe Dassin.. an amazing biography with, at last, the real story of his father Joe Dassin !
Julien is the third generation of artists in this family whose name has been shining on the pediments of theaters and music halls for more than a century!
